Detach Disk

Last updated: 2024-10-25 13:46:20

Scenarios

When you need to attach an elastic cloud disk with the disk property of a data disk to another cloud server for use, you can actively detach the elastic cloud disk from the cloud server and attach it to other cloud servers.

💡
Note: Detaching an elastic cloud disk will not erase the data on the disk. Currently, detaching elastic cloud disks with the disk property of data disks is supported, while detaching system disks and non - elastic cloud disks is not allowed.

Prerequisites

Before detaching the data disk, please ensure that you have understood the following precautions and preconditions.

  • Log in to the instance and perform the umount operation on the disk that needs to be detached.
  • If it is forcibly detached without performing the umount operation, errors may occur during shutdown and startup.

Directions

  1. Log in to the cloud server console.
  2. In the left navigation tree, select "Disk" to jump to the disk list page.
  3. On the list page, select the operation column on the right side of the row where the cloud hard disk to be operated is located, and click "Detach".
  1. In the pop - up window, after confirming that the operation target is correct, click "OK". Then the detachment operation is completed.
    • Select "Also delete the disk", and the disk will be moved to the trash. If recovery is required, you can go there to perform the recovery operation.
    • If "Delete and destroy immediately" is selected at the same time, it will be directly and immediately destroyed and cannot be recovered.
